Contraceptive Services

The Manor Surgery offers LARC (long acting reversible contraceptive) services. This involves the fitting and removing of implants and coils (both mirena and copper coils). To arrange an appointment to discuss this with a GP, please ring reception. Once you have had a counselling appointment with one of the GPs, you will be added to the waiting list and called for your appointment as soon as possible.

Key information before your LARC appointment

  • Please do not have unprotected sexual intercourse 7 days before or after your procedure
  • Please do let the surgery know if you cannot make your appointment
  • You can still have your coil procedure if you are on your period
  • As long as you have had your smear test recall letter, you can have your smear test whilst your coil is being fitted
  • Some patients find this procedure painful, whilst others do not
